I could be completely talking out of my ass here, but I thought an IPSec vpn allows better 'transparency' when using a site to site vpn and would allow for things like I've described. I've also heard pfsense runs much leaner on resources and without as much overhead. I just setup L2TP/IPsec VPN on my notebook connecting to an Untangle server. Everything works as expected but I notice that once connected from a remote location all of my traffic from my notebook now goes to the network I'm connected to (main office) Is that how L2TP/IPsec VPN works. I know that OpenVPN does to do that. pfSense is ranked 2nd in Firewalls with 12 reviews while Untangle NG Firewall is ranked 18th in Firewalls with 6 reviews. pfSense is rated 8.8, while Untangle NG Firewall is rated 8.2.
